Feeling thankful

Twenty-two years in business.

When I leaped into self-employment – 22 years ago this month – I didn’t know what to expect. But I was full of hope.

Hoping for the best

I hoped that I could make this work. I hoped that there would be more ups than downs. I hoped that I could find enough clients to keep me busy and not go broke. I hoped that my design instincts and my work ethic would be enough, and that I would be happier self-employed.

Not expecting anything

What I didn’t expect that I would still be at it, 22 years later. Nor did I expect that I’d still be working with some of the same clients. I also didn’t expect that working from home would suit me as well as it has. But mostly, I didn’t expect that my passion for design would continue to grow – that I would still look forward to digging into a good design project, learning new software, or getting to know a new client – even after 22 years.

Thankful

What I know, is that I am thankful. Thankful that this #designlife has been so good to me. Thankful for all my wonderful clients and the oodles of support from friends and family over the years. And I am thankful for inspiration and passion which keeps me waking up early and getting at it every day. So, thank you!
